This was kind of a spontaneous painting and I had put too much paint on the areas which were supposed to be white. So I borrowed some permanent white gouache from Heather and put a bunch on. I’m going to then go back in and even it out. I have been trying to stick with [...]

I decided to try something completely different and start a watercolor of a saw-whet owl. I really like the watercolor bird paintings of Louis Agassiz Fuertes. It’ll be fun to see where this goes.

Put in some more detail in and tried some different settings on the camera to get a better picture. I probably should get a little scanner to scan these in so they look better. I really should just focus on people for a month.

This doesn’t seem much different than the previous one, but it seems like I’ve been doing a lot of work on it over the last week. I made the sidewalk too dark with the first wash, so I don’t really have anyway to back up from that. Then the bricks were too glowing looking so [...]

I love how watercolors look when you have a couple of layers of washes down. It kind of gets this uneven look where the paint has gradations. It just looks like watercolor. I love how that looks so much.

I didn’t have the best drawing to work with on this one, but I wanted to redo the COinOp Painting because I wanted to try to get the shadow in there better than on my first attempt. So as a result much of the rest of the painting is a little less than to be [...]

I like this scene from Market Street so much that I am going to do another painting of it.
I really liked the first version of it, but I had made a few too many critical mistakes, and didn’t really want to try to fix them. I don’t think I could have fixed them. This is [...]

It took me a long time to get around to puting the final washes on this painting. Added color to the sky and put a couple washes of ultramarine over the front buildings to really get them in shadow and try to get the building in the back to pop a little more.
I like it, [...]
